Artist: Karle
Fried
Project Description:
Karle is a photographer and wanted to incorporate
sound within this exhibition of her photographs. She did this by
attaching a small, bare wire beneath each photograph that, when
touched, would produce a sound that corresponds to the photograph.
The sounds were recordings of phone conversations
that she had with her father. The effect was like eavesdropping
on a private conversation as the topics ranged from drug abuse to
sexual preferences. The effect was magnified by the potential that
the bare wires had to shock you and that your skin activated the
sound.
System:
One Teleo
Multi IO was connected to Schmitt trigger circuits and bare
wires. Karle used Cycling
74's Max to control the sound.
