A-B

Anode: one lead of a diode that conducts positive current

C-D

Cathode: one of two leads of a diode that will not conduct positive current

E-F

G-H

I-J

Infrared Sensor Card: this is a small plastic card with a substrate on it that glows red when exposed to infrared light. It can be found at electronics stores such as Radio Shack for around $6.

K-L

M-N

Multimeter: handheld electronic device able to measure electrical quantities such as resistance, voltage, and current. See the Introduction to Electronics.

O-P

Ohm's Law: A rule of electronics describing the relationships between voltage, current, and resistance in a circuit. It is expressed as: V = I R. See the Introduction to Electronics for more information.

Ohmmeter: An instrument used to measure resistance, often incorporated into a multimeter

Patch: A program in Cycling74's Max

Potentiometer: A variable resistor whose resistance is changed by turning a knob.

Q-R

S-T

U-V

Voltage Divider: a circuit configuration involving a measured voltage between two resistances. An in-depth discussion on voltage dividers can be found in the Introduction to Electronics
