The Regulator Block takes +V and 0V and provides a regulated +5V supply at up to 1A of current. The Power LED indicator illuminates to indicate that power has successfully applied to the board.
How Do I Use This?
Connect a power supply to either pair of the +V and 0V connectors - the positive lead from the power supply to the +V connector, and the negative/ground lead to the 0V connector. Once this is done, a regulated 5V power supply will be available on both of the 5V connectors.
Applications
- Power More Devices. If you're trying to connect sensors that operate at 5V but pull more current than a Teleo Module or Block can supply, you can use an external power supply with a Regulator Block to provide those sensors with enough power. With the power supply connected as indicated above, you can connect the 5V and 0V of the sensor(s) directly to the 5V and 0V connectors on the Regulator Block, and connect the signals into the appropriate inputs on the Module or Block that you're using. Connect one of the 0V connectors with a 0V connector on the Module or Block to ensure that you have a common ground.
For many sensors, consider using a Breakout Block in conjunction to avoid screwing several wires into single terminals on the Regulator Block, which gives a less reliable connection and can damage the connectors.
