MakingThings new Flash Class Library enables Flash Developers to move outside of the computer and into the real world.

Building interactive applications that read data from sensors and that drive external hardware components has never been easier.

(May 12, 2004, San Francisco, CA) MakingThings, a boutique design & technology firm that specializes in the creation of rapid prototyping and development tools, released version 1.0 of its Teleo Flash Class Library today. This library enables Flash developers to easily create applications that range from interactive works of art to interactive kiosks and window displays to interactive museum installations and environments.

The new Flash Class Library gives Flash developers access to MakingThings line of easy-to-use and affordable development tools call Teleo. These tools consist of modular and networkable hardware components that connect to the computer via USB and that are controlled through an XML server, which is downloadable for free from the company's web site.

"This opens up a whole new world of possibility for developers," says MakingThings co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, David Williams. "With Teleo(tm), any Flash developer can now move beyond the computer and create physically interactive projects that combine a broad range of sensors with a wide assortment of external motors, servos and LEDs. In addition, applications can be controlled locally from any computer or, remotely, via a standard web browser."

The price of getting started with Teleo and the Teleo Flash Class Library is $149 and is available for the Mac, Windows and Linux platforms. Additional modules and functionality can be added incrementally as needed.
