Quick Overview

A sensor that measures how far an object is in front of it, up to about 5 feet.


The Distance Measuring Sensor can detect the distance of objects in front of it, within a range of 20-150 cm, or 8"-60". The sensor has three wires, which should be connected to the following locations:

  • 5V (red) to a VIn on the Controller set to 5V.
  • Ground (black) to a GND connector on the Controller.
  • Signal (yellow) to an analog input, 0-7.
Note that these sensors consume a fair amount of power, so if you're planning on using several of them, you may need to use a power supply instead of just USB power. Check the Distance Measuring Sensor How-To for more info.
