Quick Overview

The Interface Board provides direct and easy access to all the signals on the Make Controller Board.

The Interface Board makes it easy to connect and communicate with your favorite devices with up to 35 general input/outputs, 2 serial ports, TWI, CAN, SPI along with Ethernet and USB. All pins are 0.1" spaced for easy insertion into your prototyping breadboard.

The Interface Board is compatible with your existing Make Controller Board - simply unplug it from the Application Board and insert it into the Interface Board. Because you're still using the same Make Controller Board, you can use the same great open source software tools: mcbuilder, a simple development environment that contains everything needed to write programs for the Make Controller, and mchelper, a configuration program that makes it easy to configure your Make Controller once it's running.

What's in the Box?
The Controller / Interface Board Kit comes fully assembled with a Controller Board and an Interface Board. It can be minimally powered via USB - if you need a USB cable, pick up a mini USB cable as listed on the left.

Note - you can also buy just the PCB for the Interface Board if you want to assemble it yourself - for example, you might want to use downward facing pins instead of the normal female sockets to plug it into your breadboard. You can also purchase a fully assembled Interface Board without a Controller Board.

Features

  • 35 configurable input/ouputs - and 4 dedicated analog ins.
  • 2 Full Serial Ports - and an additional 'debug' serial port with no handshaking.
  • SPI - 2 available channels to communicate with external devices.
  • TWI - two wire interface. Note - this requires the Controller Board v2.0.
  • USB and Ethernet interfaces - can be used simultaneously.
  • JTAG port - for on-chip debugging. JTAG connector is not included, but can easily be soldered if needed.
