Heavy, in the context of the Make Controller, is the name of the default program that runs on the Make Controller.  This is the program that allows you to communicate with it via OSC over Ethernet and USB, among other things. 

Programs that run on the Make Controller itself, as opposed to your desktop or laptop computer, are generally called firmware.  So, Heavy is a specific version of firmware that runs on the Make Controller.
