Maker Faire '08
MakingThings is headed to Maker Faire again...

That's right, it's that time of year again. We'll be heading to Maker Faire in sunny San Mateo May 3-4 to revel in all the crazy things people are up to. If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend checking it out. And if you do, please drop by and say hello! Show us what you're building, or just hang out and chat.
Update
Otherwise, things have been a little quiet at the site here over the last little bit. We've been busy with a couple Make Controller projects, but are wrapping them up and we're looking forward to some very cool developments with the Make Controller.
We're hoping to revamp the firmware over the next little bit to create a 2.0 release. Major planned features:
- switch the networking system to uIP instead of lwIP. This will save TONS of memory and sacrifice very little functionality, leaving more room for your projects on the board. Whereas a typical lwIP implementation uses about 40K or RAM, uIP uses closer to 5K.
- implement firmware in C++. This will allow us to write programs for the board with all the niceties of object orientation, and to create a nicer API.
- organize the code into a core and libraries. This will make it easier to share code between projects.
- add a simple Arduino-inspired program to manage, build, and upload projects to the board more easily. No more fussing with toolchains, IDEs, etc. unless of course you want to!
