Power metering consulting assignment?
Up to Project Discussion
Hi!
I am very interested in using a MAKE controller to read one or more current transformers in order to report power usage. The controller will read current from the CTs, make a socket connection to a remote server on the Internet, perform a simple authentication step, and report current for each analog input. The controller will also expose simple information, including diagnostics, on a web page served from the controller.
The initial phase of this project will involve 25-50 sites across the U.S.--there is a lot of room for growth if the project is deemed successful. The project will be regarded as proprietary (and we may, if the lawyers require, have to move to OpenRTOS rather than FreeRTOS). The project is part of a larger initiative that will have a substantial--and measurable--impact on the environment (hey--you're the one doing the measuring).
If you're interested, please send me an email. Please include the usual--information about yourself, your experience, your availability, and so forth. I'm particularly interested in folks with prior experience with energy/power metering--but I'm equally enthusiastic about folks with considerable experience working with Internet connectivity (and the web server) from the MAKE controller.
What's the gig? Lutron Electronics is the world leader in lighting controls. If you have a dimmer in your dining room, chances are we made it. We also make lighting controls for office buildings, stadiums, hotels, hospitals, schools, cruise ships, and much more. This application will measure energy consumption in school classrooms across the country--with a lot of down-the-road opportunity for further development.John Murdoch
