IR Trip Sensor

Hello, I am working on a project to mark the passage of an object. I plan on doing this with an IR LED and an IR sensor, any suggestions out there? CraigD

I did this using a makingthings light sensor and an LED. I just made a little U shaped bracket and mounted the LED on one side and the light sensor on the other, if you want a bigger distance, you can use a pen laser for the same task.

I used it for a home position sensor on a wheel.
