linux status of OSC and Max/MSP support

Is anyone working on getting OSC and/or Max working on Linux? I played with it months ago, but am now only getting back to things.

Well, Max doesn't run on Linux. You would be best off going with its open-source cousin Pd - http://puredata.info/

OSC should work fine over UDP, but of course still not over USB.

Thanks liamMT,

Are there other implementations of OSC that might work for Linux?

Well, it has been almost a year and I'm getting back to some fun projects.

OSC over Linux still appears not to work, and I'm digging back into things. Can anyone point me to any work they know that has been done for OSC ove USB on Linux, and Max/MSP?

Thanks,

Welcome back!

Max/MSP does not run on Linux, so that is a nonstarter.

As always, OSC should work fine over Ethernet, but support is spottier over USB.

I have a branched version of mchelper with Linux-friendly USB serial code, minus an enumerator. There is code for enumeration via libusb that I think should be reasonably easy to add in. I don't have easy access to a Linux box at the moment, so I can't check.
