mc.usb not installing correctly
Up to Max/MSP
Hi,
I just tried to install mc objects into max (3 times) and each time the following has occurred:
1. only the mc.usb object has a .mxo
2. the help files are not found
3. when I go to open the help files manually (directly), they open as garbled numbers and letters.
I placed all the files according to the rtf. instructions. I have 0SX 4.11. Has anyone else had any issues? if so, have you gotten around them?
Thanks,
Suzanne
Only mc.usb is an mxo external, so that's expected. The others are Max abstractions.
Can't imagine why the help files are not found if they're in the right place - can you confirm exactly where you've put them?
Which version of Max are you using? When you say the help files open as garbled numbers, what application are they opening up in? in Max itself, or a text editor or something like that?

Lisa, I put the help files in the help section of max, just as instructed by the rtf instructions.
I have 4.6 version of Max.
The help files look as if they are opening in text edit, but i believe they are opening in Max.
Curious, no?
as for the other objects, if they aren't mxo's then why are they there? how are they useful?
I appreciated your help. It's a good resource!

Have the help files been renamed somehow, or were there any errors when you uncompressed them? If you click 'Get Info' in the Finder on them, what application is set to open them by default?
The non-mxo objects can still be loaded as an object in Max, and they do what their help files say they do - namely, make it easier to pack and unpack the OSC messages that the Make Controller understands.
