General Max/MSP Q?

Posted by Jason Osborne at April 14. 2008

I am new to microcontrollers and just wanted to ask what positives Mas/MSP brought to the table above and beyond programming in C# or C++. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something and should jump on board.

Had Arduino and never paid attention to Max so I just wondered...

Generally, I'd think that if you're competent in C/C++ or whatever other language that works for you and it does all you need, then you should just stick with it. Max is often a good place to start for people without a strong programming background, given its visual nature - this can also make it super quick to mock up relatively simple things. It also has strong integration with interactive video manipulation with Jitter. It has lots of nice audio and MIDI processing capabilities as well. Without diving in further, I'd say those are the big plus-es for Max.
