Motors, Max, Relays, Make Controller

Hi, I am working on a project that involves a marine pump, a dc power solenoid, and the make controller all controlled through max/msp. Essentially I want to have a pump that turns off and on at a certain sound level using a mic sensor through max/msp through the use of the make controller. This may or may not be the easiest way to do this, but I'm trying it anyways. So my question is I have this pump http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1P811. Hooking to this solenoid http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/6C029. I am aware that the make controller will only support up to 4 amps. Some research has led me to a control relay to support the 80 amp solenoid that is readily available. The signal I am sending out to the pump end is 0-5V. Does this system seem possible or am I hitting a wall? I'm not incredibly tech savvy but have a decent intuition about these things. If it is possible what kind of a relay do I need/can I use a cheaper automobile relay with this system i.e. the make controller. Please Help. jonathan hart athens, ga

First off, make sure that you plan on each output channel only supplying 1A each. Sending a 5V control signal to a larger solenoid sounds good, though. When you say "a control relay to support the 80 amp solenoid that is readily available", does that mean you have a solenoid in mind? And a relay? If not, what specs do you need? I don't have any hardware to suggest off the top of my head - maybe somebody has some specific solenoid/relay recommendations?
