Maximum wire length for PIR?

Posted by Sergey Komarov at September 16. 2008
Hiya! I'm starting my first project with MCK. But it's not possible to put computer near PIR, approx distance is 35 meters!!! It's possible? Thanks for your time! Cheers! Sergey Komarov, Russia

I just got done with an installation where we had 3 PIRs running about 30 feet away from the MCK. My guess is it will work under certain conditions. I had audio and video running all around the installation and there was wayyyy too much interference. If all you are running is the PIR sensor, isolated away from any other electronics, my guess is it will work.

Yeah - I would normally say that 35 meters is too long, but you could certainly test it out and see how it works in your situation. If not, you might consider using the XBee wireless modules.
