stepper acceleration, minimum and maximum velocity

This is probably a question for Liam,
I am looking again at using the MC to drive some stepper motors for retrofitting an old radome with a blown controller. To do this reasonably correctly I have to set a number of parameters such as initial velocity, acceleration/deceleration, max velocity and minimum velocity. The stepper motor control software has an acceleration term in it, but does not appear to have ever been used. Is there an experimental version of the motor control around with accommodates motion profiling? If so where? If not, is there anyone playing with this before I spend much time on this?

I think the acceleration term in there was an optimistic notion that was never fulfilled. There's not any real work done on it, as far as I know.
