Stuck in X-CTU mode

Posted by SimonK at September 05. 2008

Hello Makers,

While working with XBee modules I find that shorting the erase pins on my Make board no longer works. In MC Helper the board is listed as USB(COM6) which is correct, shorting pins & re-powering makes no change. Board works as normal in X-CTU

I have another Make board which works fine, same machine, same port, same usb cable, same software. (Win XP)

So, has some component gone on this board, any ideas?

Thanks

Simon

Hm - I haven't heard of any boards losing the ability to go back into sam-ba/erased mode. There are no external components that have any bearing on this - it's just right on the chip itself. Can you check that there's definitely a good 3.3V signal on the pin right next to the ERASE pin - the one you're shorting it to? Perhaps try uninstalling/reinstalling the USB driver?

Thanks for the reply Liam,

I measure 3.25V (USB power)

I have previously uninstalled/re-installed the usb driver.  I have another board that works with this system (PC) & I have just tested on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.4), same result, stuck in X-CTU, which btw works fine, will communicate with XBee modules.
